Westpac Scholars Trust welcomes new CEO

Amy Lyden has been appointed CEO of Westpac Scholars Trust following Susan Bannigan’s retirement from corporate life. 

 

Westpac Scholars Trust has announced Acting CEO Amy Lyden will formally step into the role of CEO, effective July 2022. The appointment follows former CEO Susan Bannigan’s retirement from corporate life after 26 years at Westpac Group, including the past 8 years at the helm of Westpac Scholars Trust.  

 

Amy joined the team as Scholarship Program Director in 2015 and was appointed Acting CEO in April 2021. She brings to the role over 25 years’ experience across corporate, foundations, SME, and not-for-profit sectors as a senior manager, founder and CEO in Australia and North America.  

 

Westpac Scholars Trust Chair David Curran says appointing a CEO from within the team will only help to further the Trust’s mission to shape a better future for Australia by investing in people with drive and potential.  

 

“We’re delighted that Amy has taken up the position of CEO at Westpac Scholars Trust. She has unparalleled knowledge of our programs and brings so much passion and experience to the role.” 

 

Amy has long been devoted to providing education and development opportunities to aspiring individuals with generosity of spirit, having previously held the position of CEO at the Australian Scholarships Foundation.  

 

She believes Westpac Scholars Trust, with the support of Westpac Group provides the perfect ecosystem to help more individuals thrive.  

 

“Being connected to one of Australia’s largest companies and partnering with Australia’s leading universities has enabled us to provide life-changing experiences for our Scholars,” she says. 

 

“I’m passionate about continuing to help nurture our Scholars through the W100 Network and Westpac Group to enable them to flourish and grow as leaders and create even greater impact in the future.” 

 

The Westpac Scholars Trust Board thanks Susan for her leadership and countless positive outcomes she’s helped deliver for the Trust, her team and the individuals and organisations she’s worked with over her tenure.
