About me

I'm a refugee from Syria, and student athlete currently recovering from an ACL injury, with the plan of getting back to playing basketball at a high level. I also aspire to one day be a doctor and hopefully specialise as a surgeon in the future. I am a leader in many spaces, including on a basketball court, where I served as team captain on various teams. I also work as a tutor and have aspirations to help young men reach their academic potential and find their own career goals. Who I am today has been shaped by my upbringing as the eldest son in a refugee family and by seeing how hard my parents worked to provide a life for my siblings and me. This has pushed me to be the best I can and one day I hope to be able to give back to my community, and others in need.
I am honoured that this scholarship will allow me to collaborate with individuals of diverse talents and perspectives, enabling me to both share and expand my knowledge while continually pushing myself to grow into the best version of who I can be.
