About me
Growing up across Africa, Asia, Australia and Europe as a Malaysian and East Timorese woman sparked an early interest in how history and identity shape the way countries engage with one another. This led me to move from Perth to Canberra to study a Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) and Diploma of Languages at the Australian National University. Alongside my studies, I work as a Policy Officer in the NGO sector supporting national advocacy on First Nations justice, refugee rights and economic inequality. Through my studies and experiences across youth diplomacy, policy research and regional exchange, including time studying and working in Indonesia, I’ve become interested in how Australia’s domestic justice frameworks influence our relationships in the Asia-Pacific, particularly in development and diplomacy. I hope to pursue a career in foreign policy focused on regional cooperation and partnerships. In my spare time, I prioritise staying active and getting involved in my community. You can find me in a dance class, volunteering as an English tutor, or learning a new language.
In my future career working across policy and diplomacy, I hope to support Australia to engage more thoughtfully with the Asia-Pacific, recognising the region’s diversity, histories and complexities, grounded in an understanding of our own First Nations histories. The Westpac Australia-Asia Fellowship will help me develop the leadership and understanding needed to contribute to partnerships built on trust, reciprocity and long-term connection.
