Australia in Asia

About me

I’m an Economics and Finance student at the Australian National University, currently undertaking Honours in Economics with a thesis on optimal tax design in Australia. I am also a researcher at the East Asian Bureau of Economic Research, working on Australia’s economic partnerships and strategic positioning in the region. Having migrated to Australia from Nepal as a child, I’m deeply conscious of my parents’ sacrifices and the scholarships that supported my education. These experiences motivate me to pursue work that can shape better public outcomes. Looking ahead, I hope to build a career at the intersection of research and policy to deepen Australia’s relationship with Asia, which is a partnership that has underpinned our shared prosperity. Outside of study and work, I enjoy reading, running and playing sport.
Australia's prosperity is deeply intertwined with Asia's growth, which makes Australia one of the best places in the world to work with the region. The Westpac Australia-Asia Fellowship will be an important step in helping me understand some of the political, economic and social complexities that define the world's most dynamic and diverse continent.
