About me

I've never been a country kid; I was born in a large city in England and raised in Brisbane. However, just before graduating from high school, I became really passionate about teaching in rural and remote Queensland. Having had amazing teachers and experiences at school made me curious about whether students in remote areas receive similar opportunities. Ultimately, this led me to pursue a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) / Bachelor of IT (Computer Science). With this double degree, I hope to inspire high school students from rural and remote areas to have an interest in technology and consider pursuing tech-focused careers. To be the best beginning teacher I can be, I must be Asia literate and cognisant of how different cultures communicate, teach and learn. For this reason, I have jumped on every opportunity that has allowed me to learn about the Indo-Pacific, and can't wait to see what the Westpac Australia-Asia Fellowship has in store for me. Outside of my desire to teach, I enjoy hiking, listening to music and podcasts, and reading.
The Westpac Australia-Asia Fellowship will equip me with the knowledge, confidence and capabilities to inspire the minds of tomorrow.
