About me

Since becoming a primary educator in Northern Tasmania, I have been driven by a commitment to address educational inequity in rural and regional communities. My professional identity has been shaped by my firsthand experience in Tasmanian schools and involvement in local community initiatives, where I have seen how planning decisions directly influence the educational outcomes of young people and the well-being of rural communities. Having completed my Bachelor of Education, I am now commencing a Master of Urban Planning at the University of Melbourne to work at the intersection of education, sustainability, and planning, with a focus on educational infrastructure in regional settings. I am an active member of my local community gardening group and engage in grassroots community and environmental organising initiatives. Outside of work and study, I enjoy hiking, writing and nerding out over coffee, having competed in the Tasmanian leg of the Australian AeroPress Championship (a national coffee‑brewing competition).
The Future Leaders Scholarship will allow me to connect my background in education with urban planning, strengthening my leadership skills through new and exciting opportunities and networks. I am motivated to use planning to help design community-focused education spaces in regional areas that support family engagement in learning and create more inclusive educational outcomes for Australians.
