About me

I am someone who has intersectional lived experiences that have deeply shaped who I am today. I am a mother of 2 young boys, who enjoys living in a remote part of the country, hiking fishing and camping - while also travelling for work and getting to enjoy the luxuries of being in the city. I love storytelling, writing and speaking as a way to connect, share experiences, and learn from one another. My lived prison experience fundamentally changed how I see the world, and shaped my deep belief that women hold communities together and when we incarcerate women, our social fabric begins to come apart. My vision for social change is that we don't incarcerate women at one of the highest rates in the developed world, and that we start to see them for what they can do - not what they have done.
Project:herSELF is built on peer support and lived experience - it's a core part of everything we do. Being awarded the Westpac Social Change Fellowship sends a powerful message: women can be valued by what we do now, not just what we have done. It's about doing the next right thing and proving that anything is possible. It's an incredible opportunity for me, as a leader, to really focus on the what it takes to drive lasting social change.
